Reviews Lightphoria 10,000LUX Energy Light Lamp

I absolutely love this Lightphoria 10,000LUX Energy Light Lamp! It's not that big - around the size of an ipad mini but gosh the light is bright! You're not suppose to stare directly into the light and from the stimulation in your eye balls (in some miraculous way), it makes you less sleepy... like opening the curtains in the morning to let the light in.

With fall coming and me taking so much medication that even the smell of alcohol is enough to make me woozy, my psychiatrist suggested I consider light therapy to deal with some of the blah and my night owl tendencies. The lightphoria is a solidly constructed piece and attractive to be placed anywhere at home. It doesn't have any fancy digital displays or flashy buttons.
  • Portable SAD light system emits 10,000 lux wide-spectrum light
  • Provides natural soothing glow; mimicking real sunlight
  • Selectable intensity levels - LOW (5,000 lux), MEDIUM (8,000 lux), HIGH (10,000 lux) and programable 15, 30, 45 minute timer
  • 72 Energy-efficient LEDs consumes only 7.2 watts and is rated for more than 20 years
  • Sleek and compact lightweight design perfect for travel. 110v-240v worldwide-compatible AC adapter included
Lightphoria 10,000LUX Energy Light Lamp comes with a travel pouch too which may come in handy for those who travel through time zone and need some extra light to acclimatize to your destination. Like it's been said, the difference between 8,000 lux and 10,000 lux doesn't look significant. That said, this light is bright. It was enough light to send my mood off-kilter. My mood seems to be solar powered - not enough light, not enough cheer.

Too much light, a cable or something catches on fire and the solar panels that are my eyes become useless. Oddly, I experience the same phenomenon when visiting relatives who live in sunny places in the winter - it's more the jolting difference in light than anything.

I know this Lightphoria 10,000LUX Energy Light Lamp is a SAD light but I read from articles saying that these lights help adjust body clocks. I do feel tired in the mornings and this bright light is somewhat uncomfortable at first (the feeling where your body doesn't want light) but I was committed in giving this a try.

Good price, convenient, and worth the purchase if you're not sure if you want to plunk down the money for some of the larger models. Use under medical supervision if you are especially sensitive to light and it's effect on mood - Lightphoria 10,000LUX Energy Light Lamp really is bright.
