Bright Great for SAD, Reviews Verilux HappyLight 4500 Sunshine Supplement Light System

I love this HappyLight 4500 Sunshine.. Bright & brighter are the settings... It has helped my seasonal depression.. I purchased this instead of the tanning package I normal buy this time of year. I get dreary when we go through a couple of days with no hint of sun, the kind of winter days where you have to have your inside lights turned on all day.

Takes up little space & is worth the small investment to feel happier on gloomy winter days of New England. I work in an office with no windows. I've been working in an office with no windows for the last nine years. Every winter...work becomes nearly unbearable. The dry, overheated office air. No sunlight. Getting up in the dark...leaving from work in the dark. For anyone who suffers from SAD...it's like slowly descending into hell over the course of three months. Since using this lamp, all my symptoms have eased a bit. Which is pretty amazing considering it's nearly Christmas a hyper stressful time for me.

It's perfect for reading and really seems to give my bedroom a calming ambience. I haven't used them long enough to determine if it will help w/ the winter blues, but think it might. Also one of its best features is flicker-free illumination without generating EMFs. For those of you that use feng shui, this is very important.

I keep the light behind...and about 45 degrees to the right of my computer screen...so the light is almost in my peripheral vision...and have had no problems with eye strain. To the contrary...I find that I have a greater ability to focus...and need to take fewer breaks.
